A Place to Be Heard

It never happens
all at once.

You don't notice the moment you start disappearing. You just look up one day, somewhere you never thought you'd be, wondering how someone like you ended up here. If you've ever lost yourself in someone, you already know.

Our Mission

Making the invisible, visible.

Most people don't lose themselves in a single moment. It happens slowly. One compromise, one excuse, one piece of yourself given away at a time, until you no longer recognize your own life. The hardest part isn't the leaving. It's that you never saw it happening.

The Dependency Project exists to help people see it sooner. Not the way it shows up, as a person, a habit, a place you can't walk away from, but the quiet pattern underneath all of it. This was built by someone who didn't see their own until it had already cost them. You don't have to wait that long.

"You do not have to earn rest. You do not have to earn peace. You do not have to earn the right to take up space in your own life."
The Dependency Project

This project exists because many of the people who are the most giving, the most caring, and the most loving are also the ones who have quietly lost themselves along the way.

The Workbook

Seeing the Pattern

Recognition is where everything starts, and it is easier with a guide. Seeing the Pattern is a guided self-reflection workbook for putting words to all of it: the panic, the people-pleasing, the wants that went quiet.

Seven sections, each one looking at a different corner of the same pattern. Every prompt is an unfinished sentence, and you finish it honestly. It is not therapy and it is not a diagnosis. It is a mirror with a pen, written from lived experience.

About Dependency

What is emotional dependency?

Emotional dependency isn't a flaw in your character. It's a pattern, often formed early in life, where your sense of safety, worth, or identity becomes tied to another person. Recognizing it is the first step toward something different.

Worth tied to someone else

Feeling like your value as a person depends on how someone treats you, what they think of you, or whether they stay.

Staying out of fear

Remaining in relationships that feel wrong, not because you want to, but because the thought of leaving feels unbearable or unsafe.

Ignoring your own needs

Consistently putting another person's comfort, mood, or preferences before your own, until you stop knowing what you need at all.

Anxiety when they pull away

Feeling intense anxiety, panic, or a sense of dread when someone becomes distant, even temporarily or with no clear reason.

Losing your sense of self

Looking up one day and realizing you no longer know what you enjoy, what you believe, or who you are outside of a relationship.

Giving more than you have

Pouring yourself into others, your care, your time, your energy, until there is nothing left for yourself, and calling that love.

Share Your Story

What's been weighing on you lately?

You do not have to have the perfect words. You can share as much or as little as you want. This is a space to be heard.

There is no right way to say what you are carrying. You do not need to explain yourself, justify your feelings, or have it all figured out.

Just say what's true for you, right now.

Please note: The Dependency Project is not a crisis service, therapy service, or emergency resource. If you are in immediate danger or need to talk to someone right now, please see the support lines just below, or contact your local emergency services. This space is for awareness, support, and human connection.

You were heard today.

Thank you for trusting us with your story.
What you shared matters, and so do you.
